NIHR is the research arm of the UK’s National Health Service (NHS).

Its mission is to drive improvements in the NHS, public health, and social care. By turning research discoveries into better treatments, diagnostics, medical technologies, and services, NIHR supports research leaders to back the UK Government’s ambition to become a world leader in life sciences.

The challenge

With an urgent need to deliver efficient clinical research to evoke change and drive the improvement of healthcare services for millions of patients, NIHR needed our support with:

  • Accelerating the pace of medical research

  • Setting clear targets for clinical trials

  • Promoting better collaboration between 60+ NHS Trusts across the UK

In this case study, we highlight the benefits of an engagement program geared toward a unified sense of purpose, ownership, engagement, and accountability across the entire National Health network.

Our impact

Establishing a unified sense of purpose to deliver better patient outcomes

Surrounded by experienced experts from the beginning, we were aware that the success of this initiative rested on our ability as organization consultants to listen, understand, and create change – this therefore ensured credibility throughout the collaboration.

The program established a unified sense of purpose, ownership, engagement, and accountability across the entire National Health network.

Better patient outcomes

The program improved efficiency, reduced costs, and improved the growth and scope of research for better patient outcomes.

Award-winning collaboration

The program previously won Gold for Organizational Development at the EFMD Excellence in Practice Awards.
